We had an amazing time at island spirits and will definitely be returning. The team was extremely friendly and the island is magnificent. Tons of private nature filled spots to swim at. Make sure to bring water shoes. It was extremely unique to see the farm animals roaming free. There is no electrical or running water but this was not an issue at all as the team would deliver water and firewood to us every morning. The solar showers are amazing. Very hot water and the experience of showering in the open air forest is something I will look forward to again and again. Looking forward to our next trip here.

First time camper here but what an awesome place to try it out. I came with my family of 5, I have 3 boys ages between 6-10 years old. We stayed at the Miners cabin. It was a great location…central to everything…the shared boat the swimming barge, animal feeding area and pizza oven. Clean as a cabin could be and the private outdoor bathroom was also decent. Still smells which one of kiddos had a hard time with. Maybe bring a nose plug or more air freshener if you have a sensitive one. Kids loved feeding the alpacas…super friendly and cool to see up close. Their highlight was making fresh pizza! You can also bring other dishes to make in the oven but recommend as pre-made as possible as there can be a lot of people that commune at the same time. Wasn’t sure what to expect being our first time so we brought a lot of drinking water, toilet paper, wipes, cooler with 2 ice bags that lasted the 2 days. Kept it simple with chicken, burgers and hot dogs on grill, bacon and eggs for breaky. They bring you right to your cabin so no question of how to lug it all to your site. Also, not too many bugs at this time of year. The weekend we went was a bit more lively so music was playing and people were out and about hollering/boating till the wee hours of the morning which was a bit of a nuisance. Other than that, definitely work checking out!

Our stay was incredible. The connection with nature at this campsite is invigorating. You forget about the outside world and immerse yourself in living fully, enjoying the sound of birds, the touch of animals freely roaming around the campsite, and the lake with its perfectly balanced temperature to counter the heat. Despite not having electricity, the campsite is well-equipped and meticulously maintained. The hosts are extremely kind and welcoming. I will be returning to Spirit Island soon.

Island Spirits cottage is a great place to unwind, reflect, relax, and also have fun and make memories with friends and loved ones. Just a few hours away from the city, you can disconnect and enjoy the beautiful nature. I highly recommend you try in for yourself. I have been coming to Captain TJs Island for 15 years now and still get so captivated each time I go back!

It was a very memorable experience, I had a lot of fun with a large group of the guys I went with. Much to do, not too much to see but all the animals make up for it.

I didn't make use of the cabins but I did look into them we prefer our tents. The location is amazing it has been so great each time we went and we are going again in a few weeks for our summer family trip. The Captain and crew and all the staff are amazing as well and so friendly. This is our third time going and likely not to be the last!

Absolutely unforgettable experience - there was never a dull moment! I stayed at Grasshopper Island for my first solo camping trip, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The island is peaceful and naturally beautiful, but what really made the experience special was the staff. Monalisa, Sergej, Chuck, and Raegan went above and beyond - from teaching me how to fish and kayak to playing volleyball with me. When I mentioned I was cold after my first night, they brought me an extra sleeping bag and gave me propane when I ran out of it without me even asking - just pure kindness. The owner, Captain TJ, has clearly created something unique here: a place where you can relax, have fun, and feel genuinely cared for. Whether you’re solo or with friends, there’s always something to do, and someone happy to show you the ropes. I left with new skills, new friends, and memories I’ll always keep. 10/10 recommend.

I've been to Island Spirits almost every year for the past decade, and it's a blast every time. eco-friendly camping/cabin experience. The animals are my personal favourite, but the views on the lake and the unique vibe this place has are a close second. If you like camping you'll love it here!
